The monograph considers a new phenomenon in the Russian labor market - independent employment of independent professionals (freelancers) working remotely using the Internet. How many freelancers are in Russia? How do they live and work? What are the labor values and motivation of freelancers? What are the possibilities and risks of free employment? What are the further prospects for the development of freelance in Russia? The authors give answers to these and other questions, based on unique empirical data - four waves of large -scale monitoring research? Census for freelancers?, Covering the period from 2009 to 2019. Over the past decade, significant changes have been recorded in the socio-demographic and professional composition of freelancers, as well as formal and informal principles for the functioning of the remote work market, demonstrating the active development of innovative labor practice with increasingly wider layers of Russian workers and highlighting acute problems along this path.
