In the monograph of the Corr. RAS, D.F.N. J.T. Toshchenko considers the little -studied phenomenon of modern civilization - trauma to society. The state of the state, over a long period of chaotic, unbalanced and turbulent development, cannot be described in the concepts of the main recognized development paths - revolution and evolution. The book shows that the concept of "injury" has already acquired a social sound, it is comprehended in scientific literature and is reflected in political vocabulary. The monograph reveals the essential characteristics of the injury society, the reasons for its appearance, the consequence of its functioning. Particular attention is paid to Russia, which rejected the socialist past, but did not reach the borders from which it began its reforms. In the mosaic of Russian transformations, it is almost impossible to distinguish between evolutionary and revolutionary trends. The author gives an analysis of the obstacles standing in the way of implementing a truly democratic, effectively functioning society, which in turn allows him to determine the ways out of a state of injured society.
