The legendary jazz pianist Mikhail Ilyich Kull, a native Muscovite, was born in 1935 on Arbat. He lived in Moscow until 1999, when he changed his place of residence for the city of Yehud in Israel. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Chemical Engineering (MIHM) In 1955, playing in a student pop orchestra, led by B.S. Figotin, met the trumpeter Vladislav Grachev. Their friendship and cooperation continued for 30 years, first - in the Combo (with the participation of saxophonist Vladimir Shifrin), then - in Dixyland Grachev. In this composition, Mikhail played in the late 60s in the cafe "Pechora". After V. Grachev stopped the active life in Jazz, until 1992 Mikhail Kull was a member of the new Moscow Jazz Band, Alexander Banny. With the advent of Moscow jazz cafes at the slightest opportunity, Mikhail Kull played there. In 1964, with his own quartet, the Blue Bird “opened "cafe, where he played for two and a half years. In 1967, in a quintet with two thrombons (M. Tsarev and I. Zavertkin) participated in the Festival "Jazz-67". In Israel, he continued to play jazz in his own quintet, with whom he took part in 8 annual jazz festivals "jazz-globus" in Jerusalem. Carried away by a photograph from the birthday of his son (1959), he did not release the camera from the hands at all significant jazz events, so he collected a unique photo archive, the small part of which is presented in the life of life in 2009, the book of Mikhail Kully"s memoirs of the “step of the ascent” was published. Giving Jazz a lot of time, Mikhail always remained an amateur musician, while working at the Research Institute, where he became a candidate of technical sciences, he was awarded government awards and awarded the title of laureate of the USSR State Prize
