Gevart Francois Auguste (1828-1908) - Belgian composer, teacher and musicologist, since 1871 he headed the Brussels Conservatory. He became world famous thanks to his two orchestration treatises: "General Guide to Tools" and the present edition "Methodological course of the orchestration". The book is divided into 14 lessons and is written according to a strict plan, starting with a detailed analysis of a small string group and ending with a large dramatic orchestra so that the reader can step by step, fully study the art of an orchestration.
