The treatise of the Italian composer, pianist and teacher Ferrucio Buzoni (1866-1924) is devoted to the renewal of musical art at the turn of the century. According to Buzoni, the main property of music is its independence regarding other types of art, in connection with which it refuses the right to exist program music.
The author advocates the liberation of musical art from the shackles of classical harmony, for introducing new ways of sounding (including using electricity) and returning to the tradition of improvisational music.
The publication is addressed to students of music schools and conservatories, as well as a wide range of people interested in art.
3rd edition, stereotypical
