Although the term “postravda” was invented by critics who impressed Brexit and the presidential campaign in the USA, post -truth, or poststin, rooted in the very history of Western social and political theory. Steve Fuller returns to Plato, considers a number of problems of theology and philosophy, pays special attention to the Machiavellist tradition of classical sociology. The key figure is Wilfredo Pareto, who proposed the original concept of poststin in the framework of his theory of circulation of two types of elites - lions and foxes, according to which lions and foxes compete for power and accuse each other illegitimacy, referring to the falsity of the opponent’s statements - or that they are that they (Lions) did, or about what they (foxes) will do. The decisive feature of poststin is a strict difference between visibility and reality, which is never fully eliminated, and therefore the most powerful visibility poses for reality. The question is how to achieve a greater win - by quick changes in visibility (fox position) or due to its stabilization (Lviv position) The author from different angles considers what all this means for politics and science.
