After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the former socialist camp entered into a new historical era. The euphoria from the collapse of totalitarian regimes prompted researchers of the 1990s to describe the future trajectory of the development of these countries in terms of liberal democracy, but it soon became clear that political reality did not justify universal hopes for the accelerated democratization of the region. The transit situation gave rise to modes that cannot be clearly categorized using traditional liberal discourse. Balint Magyar and Balint Madlovich set themselves the task of finding a working analytical model and the actual language of describing post -communist modes. So this book appeared, offering updated theoretical tools for the analysis of actors, institutions and dynamics of modern political systems of the countries of Central Europe, the post -Soviet region and China.
