The book justifies the idea of a social fracture in modern Russia caused by a change in generations. A sociological approach to the analysis of generations is developing, their original classification is built. A special focus is made on the generation of millennials that entered during growing up in the 2000s. For a comparative analysis of generations, the data of Russian monitoring of the economic situation and health of the population of the Higher School of Economics (1994–2016) are used. Sustainable significant intercoral differences in the planning of the family, the use of digital technologies, committed a healthy lifestyle, the level of religiosity, assessing their subjective well -being and other social indicators have been discovered. Cases have been identified when millennials accelerate previously established trends, and cases when they provide a fracture of these trends.
