The textbook discusses the theoretical provisions of the new humanitarian science of the XXI century - medialii in the context of the history of the development of mass communication, media semiotics, theory and practice of media culture, media philosophy, media management and media pedagogy as a new direction in the educational field. The book analyzes the problems of the interaction of mass media and society - from the drama of the ideological contradictions of the twentieth century to the dialogue and polylogue of cultures in the conditions of the information era. The author proves that media is a synthesis of the humanities transformed during the period of globalization and digitalization, the intensive development of information and communication technologies (ICT), which affect the public consciousness and the process of socialization of personality.
