Mass art, including mass music, has become an important factor in the modern picture of the world, reflecting the state of public consciousness and at the same time exerting an increasingly powerful influence on it. The proposed manual is based on an approach to mass musical culture as a system that operates, on the one hand, according to its internal laws, and on the other hand, in the context of larger systems (musical art, culture of modern society) In addition, in the manual mass music is characterized as a special genre class, different from other classes (folklore, academic music) and coexisting with them as part of a common musical culture.
A compressed form of presentation was chosen in the manual, since it is focused, first of all, to teachers leading this course and saturating it with their own material and vision of the subject. This manual can be recommended to students. It is intended primarily for the conservative course, but can be adapted to other levels of training and in humanitarian universities of various profiles.
The publication is also addressed to all those who are interested in issues of modern mass musical culture and its history.
