Migration is one of the social phenomena underlying the modern global world. At first glance, this process is directed only in one direction: the inhabitants of the poor regions rush to where the standard of living is higher. But upon close examination, it turns out that immigrants create multi -level ties between the communities that “send” them and “accept” them. The authors of this book turn to transnationalism and translocability - an approach that has not been systemic use in the Russian academic space, they show how migrants build their life strategies over state borders and barriers - between “here” and “there”. The articles of the collection study the life of labor migrants from Central Asia and the North Caucasus, as well as their relatives remaining at home: the mobile everyday life of immigrants and the phenomenon of the family, scattered between different places of residence, movement of people and things, digital communications and marriage strategies, the dynamics of value attitudes and the dynamics of value attitudes and the dynamics Taste, characteristic of those who live between the two worlds. The book was the result of the international research project “Transnational and translocal aspects of migration in modern Russia”, supported by the Russian Scientific Fund (2014–2018)
