The proposed book is dedicated to the life and work of Vadim Vasilievich Borisovsky (1900-1972)-the founder of the modern altova school in Russia, the professor of the Moscow Conservatory, the soloist-altist, the performer at Viola d"Amur, one of the founders and the long-term participant of the Beethoven quartet, the author of the huge number Transcriptions for Alta and Viola d"Amur. V.V. Borisov and several generations of his students laid the foundation of the previously unprecedented progress of altum execution, the final approval of Alta as a full solo and ensemble instrument. The book is based on many years of personal communication of the author with V.V. Borisovsky, conversations with him, his colleagues and students, impressions of the concerts of the Altist and the Quartetist and his classes with students. Materials of the richest archive V.V. Borisovsky was allowed to approach the understanding of his personality and his contribution to the domestic musical culture.
