The manual is the first experience of a systematic study of the onomastics of the Japanese language. Toponyms, surnames, male and female names of the Japanese are examined in detail, the structural and semantic classification of Onims is given. The main attention is paid to the linguistic, linguistic features of anthroponyms and toponyms, the individual difficulties of their writing and reading. Information on the history of individual names and surnames, curious ethnographic data is proposed. Recommendations on the transcription of names, their declination in Russian translations, the order of the name and surname are given. The publication is intended for teachers, translators, students, as well as for everyone who wants to improve their knowledge of the Japanese language
