Gevart Francois Auguste (1828-1908) - Belgian composer, teacher and musicologist, since 1871 he headed the Brussels Conservatory. He became world famous thanks to his two orchestration treatises: "Methodical Orchestration" Course "and the present edition" General guidance for instrumentation ". The manuscript was translated by the great Russian composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, for whom this leadership became a table book.
The publication consists of two parts and additions. The first part contains a detailed description of each tool that is part of the symphonic orchestra. The second part is the analysis of individual instrumental groups and an orchestra, in general. Thus, the reader develops (in addition to the knowledge of a particular tool, its properties and functions) a complete picture about the meaning and interaction of these groups, which ultimately make a single whole - the orchestra.
The book is addressed to students and teachers of secondary special and higher musical educational institutions, as well as a wide range of lovers of symphonic music
