In childhood, many of us loved to gather in a summer camp by the fire and tell the blood -free stories about a black hand, a coffin on wheels or an abandoned house inhabited by the ghosts of the former owners. But the children grow up, and the once oral folklore moves on the Internet and is overgrown with new “modernized” details: from the old Chulans, monsters move to the porches of high-rise buildings, and the restless souls of the dead now live on old flash drives and one-day sites. This book is an attempt to answer the question of whether terrible stories on the Internet are related to social reality and what determines the feelings that we experience from their reading.
