In the famous dictionary of Vladimir Ivanovich Dahl, the vocabulary of the Russian language is represented in all its diversity. Many articles contain proverbs, sayings, excerpts from folk songs.
This publication is a reduced version of the dictionary, which fully contains more than 200 thousand words, not counting examples of use and samples of oral folk art.
This book included words that can be found in Russian classical literature, the usual words that have other meanings in the time of Dahl, as well as part of the vocabulary that describes historical realities. The text is reproduced in modern spelling, but with the preservation of the main features of the author’s punctuation.
The publication is addressed to everyone who is interested in the history of the Russian language
