The book presents 16 essays dedicated to various aspects of the epigraphic activity of the Celtic tribes at the early stage of the development of writing. The study is presented in the form of four sections, the first of which describes as an earlier stage in the development of the conventional sign system, which the author calls the "pre-written" and which is realized in the form of a series of visual narratives. The symbol sign in the system of visual narratives of the early Celts is often borrowed (from the Greco-Roman cultural environment), which leads to its partial degradation, ornamentation and loss of connection with denotate. The author shows how, on the example of one inscription, sometimes even one word or form in the inscription, we can draw conclusions both linguistic (the development of phonetic shifts, a change in word-formation models, etc), and a historical and cultural nature.
The study showed that from the point of view of a psychological desire to apply its own name to the visited object can be presented as a kind of mechanism for protection from the fear of death. A special topic passing through the entire book: determining the addressee of the text of the inscription.
