This book has investigated the background and the evolution of social violence, as well as the consistently improved mechanisms of cultural and psychological control over aggressive impulses. The hypothesis of the techno-humanitarian balance, its empirical foundations, investigations and conclusions are discussed in detail. For verification of the hypothesis, comparative historical calculations are shown that in long-term retrospective with an increase in technological power and demographic density the coefficient of bloodshed of society (the ratio of the average number of murders to the unit of the population to the population) did not increase, but, on the contrary, was unstable. It is shown that any technology poses a threat to society, but only until it is psychologically mastered, after which the technology is even less dangerous than potentially more destructive.
The close -up phases of universal history have been highlighted closely, which have become a creative response of culture to anthropogenic crises. The mechanisms of exacerbation and overcoming such crises are analyzed. Through the prism of historical experience, the crises of modern civilization and scenarios of further development of events are considered.
The book will be useful to historians, psychologists, sociologists, political scientists, philosophers, as well as a wide circle of interested readers
