Almost nothing is known about the personality of Diogenes of Laerstsky, as the exact name of his work is unknown. One can say only one thing with confidence: we have a completely unique collection of biographies of numerous ancient philosophers. No other book immerses the reader so deeply into the atmosphere of ancient Greece, does not allow us to discern the whole variety and wealth of a long -disappeared culture. Talking about a particular philosopher, the author does not so much talk about his worldview as he conveys stories about all kinds of curioses from his life, about strange habits and lifestyle. Quite often, these gossip did not correspond to reality, in fact, being jokes that once sounded on Athenian streets. It is this peculiar inaccuracy that gives the book of Diogenes Laerstiki fascination, so valued by its readers for many centuries.
