A. I. Puzyrevsky (1855–1917) - a famous Russian historian and music theorist, teacher. This book is a textbook on the elementary theory of music. Preliminary information is given about the musical sound and its properties, about the musical system, about tone and half. The musical nomenclature is described, including the system of names of musical sounds, the name of the octave and their division into the steps, the system of conventions in music (notation) is considered. Three main departments of the elementary theory of music are presented - the doctrine of size and rhythm, the doctrine of gamut and the doctrine of intervals. The applications contain practical exercises in all departments of the course of elementary theory of music.
