Jonathan Crary explores some of the destructive consequences of continuous and expanding processes characteristic of capitalism of the 21st century, when the market is constantly working in 24/7 mode, pushing us to constant activity and undermining many forms of social and political self -expression. The author traces how the non -notorious erries the boundaries between the ubiquitous and unbridled consumers and the strategies of control and supervision currently developing today, describes the constant management of human attention and a violation of perception in the framework of forced practices of modern technological culture. At the same time, he notes that human sleep, being a healing respite, in essence incompatible with capitalism of 24/7, points to us other, more formidable and more collective ways of abandoning the world destroying the world of growth and accumulation
