The novel "Echelon" by the outstanding Transbaikal writer Oleg Smirnov tells about the events of 1945. The echelon with Soviet troops moves from Germany to the Far East through the places of past battles, providing an opportunity to show a wide panorama of the Soviet Union. In 1981, the writer completes the second part of the duology - the novel "Inevitability," which took five years to complete. The plot is based on the journey of the heroes of "Echelon" through the territory of Mongolia to participate in combat actions against the Kwantung Army.
