The author of these memories is Peter Gordeevich Cherkasov (1913-1987) - a personnel officer of the Soviet Army. His life fell on the era of steep changes in the history of our country - civil war, the cultural revolution, collectivization, elimination of fouls as a class, Stalinist repression. Through all this was the Cherkasov family. The author was able to work as a tractor driver and brigadier, learn from the Rabatak of the Road Institute, to know the famine of 1932-1933, serve in the Trans-Baikal group of troops of a special red-known Far Eastern army. But the main thing is to Peter Gordeevich, like most of his peers, considered participation in the Great Patriotic War. About this time and about himself in time, he tells in his memoirs.
