"Duel" is one of the most famous leaders of Alexander Ivanovich Kupper, a wonderful Russian prose with an amazing destiny: after the October Revolution, he left for emigration, for about twenty years he lived in Paris, but longing in his homeland shortly before the death forced him to return. He died in Gatchina near Leningrad and was buried on the legendary "literary walkways" on the Volkovsky cemetery. When in 1905, the duel appeared in the press, the name Kupper has already become known to the entire reading Russia. The story came out with the dedication to Maxim Gorky and deserved the enthusiastic praise of critics and the very lion of Tolstoy. This small thing in which the horror and boredom of military life is unusually shown is unusually shown, chasing the purity and strength of the present feeling, the victory of the Human Spirit.
