Radio-controlled drones appeared shortly before the Second World War. However, due to technical imperfections, their use at that time was extremely limited.
At the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century, a revolution took place in the field of control systems, navigation, and engine building. As a result, drones were transformed into weapons, the role of which in modern warfare is comparable to artillery, tanks, and aviation.
How this happened and what modern drones are, is described in the book "Drones" by Alexander Shirokorad.
