The collection of works of old masters of Northern Europe was formed for about twenty years to the attention of the audience. Such a short time for creating a private global assembly indicates a passionate enthusiasm for the work of outstanding European artists who worked before the beginning of the 18th century.
The main place in the meeting is occupied by the work of descendants of Peter Bruegel the Elder. These are, first of all, the paintings of his sons Jan the Elder and Peter the Younger, as well as the grandson - Yana the Younger. The exhibition “The Younger Bruegheli and their era: the Netherlands painting of the Golden Age from the collection of Valeria and Konstantin Mauerhaus,” on which one of the best parts of our collection is presented, includes works with a unique history of admission to the meeting, because the acquisition of some paintings took years.
We are sure that the exhibition will become a significant event for both the collection itself and for the audience: the work of younger Bruegles and their environment is a special phenomenon in the history of the art of Northern Europe, which has great interest for the widest audience in Russia
