The book of Camille Gizhitsky “Through Uryanhei and Mongolia”, first published in Poland in 1927, that is, shortly after the events described in it, will allow the inquisitive reader to plunge into the history of the white movement in Mongolia and in the border regions of Siberia.
Gizhitsky was a direct participant in military operations deployed by the white, as part of the Asian horse division under the command of Baron Ungern. In addition, by its nature, Gizhitsky was an excellent observer, and in its inclination, belonged to the enthusiastic researchers of culture, language, customs, beliefs and religions of the Mongols and the tribes inhabiting Mongolia. Thus, we have a magnificent ethnographic study conducted in a unique historical period.
