The worlds of Vrubel

Russian artist M.A. Vrubel proved himself an outstanding master in many forms and genres of fine art: painting, graphics, decorative sculpture and theatrical art. He worked on illustrations for the poem M.Yu. Lermontov "Demon". His "demonic cycle" consisted of drawings, picturesque paintings and even sculptures. The real recognition - newspapers wrote about his work, the academy awarded him the title of academician, at the exhibition in Paris his paintings occupied the whole hall - came to him when he was already seriously ill: he lost his mind.
