Pre -Raphaelites, artists of their circle and their followers created in their works a bright and memorable romantic image of the Middle Ages, which continues to attract the attention of the audience. The presented monograph is the first domestic study in which the works of fine art created by pre -Raphaelites, artists of their circle and their followers are considered as the main historical sources that help determine the historical, social and cultural causes of the appearance and features of the creation of the Middle Ages in the visual arts of England in the second half of the XIX -XX century, its influence on the socio-cultural life of English society. The chronological framework covers the 1848th-early 1920s.
