Yuri Annenkov (1889–1974), an excellent graphics, a painter, a theater artist, began his work in the 1910s, quickly taking a prominent place in the cultural world of St. Petersburg. Handing about his contemporaries, the personalities of the outstanding, with whom he was associated with sincere friendship, he constantly talks about himself and how his life history, his fate developed. The literary portraits written by the artist, who are related by his talented graphic graphic, decorated the book, called “synthetic images”, that is, extremely generalized, concentrated on something significant. Annenkov gave his diary a subtitle, in which he reflected the sad lines of the biographies of his characters.
And this is Maxim Gorky, Alexander Blok, Nikolai Gumilyov, Anna Akhmatova, Georgy Ivanov, Velimir Khlebnikov, Sergey Yesenin, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Evgeny Zamyatin, Boris Pilnyak, Isaac Babel, Mikhail Zoshchenko, Alexey Remizov, Sergey Prokofiev, Ilya Repin, Ilya Repin .
And dozens of others arise next to these figures, the history of Russian culture has been standing behind private stories for many decades.

- A lot of truth is said about Soviet Russia and those who performed and shared its tragic fate
