The memoirs of Ekaterina Grigoryevna Shulgina were written in Prague in 1924. Being the wife of Vasily Vitalievich Shulgin, a prominent policy of pre -revolutionary Russia, E. G. Shulgin had the opportunity to observe many important events of the early 20th century from close range: from the 1905–1907 revolution. Before the Civil War. The book describes in detail about the members of the family and acquaintances of the author, about the activities of the Kievite newspaper, about the underground work of the White Guard organizations during the German occupation of Ukraine. One of the central plots of the publication is the death of his son Shulgina Vasilid in a battle against the Petliurists. Descriptions of the defense of Kyiv in 1918 and the conclusions of E. G. Shulgina in the prison of the Odessa Cheka in 1920 are closely connected with such literary works as the "White Guard" M. A. Bulgakov and "Werther" V.P. Kataeva has already been written .
