Catalog of the joint exhibition of the Pushrooms named after A.S. Pushkin and Museums of Italy. The project "Siena at the dawn of the Renaissance ..." is associated with the show of works of the XIV -XV centuries - a period directly preceding the Renaissance. It was then that one of the leading centers of art was Siena, experiencing a brilliant heyday of painting, when Duccio, Simone Martini, the Lorenzetti brothers and many others worked.
The works of these great masters are stored in the collection of the National Pinakotek in Sienna - a unique museum, a distinctive feature of which is the rich collection of works of Sienna artists of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Multi -part altar compositions (polyptychi), portable diphtihs and triptihi, small prayer images make up an extensive collection of works, called gold backgrounds.
In addition to Siene, individual works from their collections were provided by the Amriso and Pisa museums, as well as the state archive of Siena, which has a unique collection of Tavolett Bickerna, painted wooden covers of accounting books that filled up for the Treasury of the Siensky Republic. Their exceptional value is explained by the fact that well -known Siena artists were involved in the implementation of murals. In Russia, ten unique samples of this art are shown for the first time
