In the monograph by N. A. Yakovleva, the Russian realistic painting of the New Age is first described as a genre chronotypology - a holistic historically developing system of genres. All stages of the development of the system were investigated-from its hidden origin in the bowels of the artistic process (the first half of the 19th century), the revolutionary formation in the 1860s and until the top of the implementation of its program in the diachronous genre structure in the 1890-1900s. The coordinates of realism in the genre super -system of Russian painting of the New Age are determined and the ways of studying intersystem ties in the wide context of domestic and world art are outlined. The genre model made it possible to identify some of the patterns of the genre process hidden to theotoly and clarify its logic and fluctuations.
The book is addressed to specialists in the field of art science, as well as readers interested in the history of Russian painting.
