Postimpressionism is a conditional collective name for the combined directions in European painting of the late XIX - early XX century, the founders of which are considered to be four artists who summed up a peculiar result of the art of the XIX century. And they set the vector of development to subsequent generations of artists-the field of Cezann, Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Henri de Toulouse-Lotreku. They moved away from the transmission of the instantaneous picture of the world characteristic of impressionists, and tried to convey to the viewer the deep philosophical meaning of being. Each of these masters, despite the conditional belonging to post -impressionism, worked in an exceptional manner that is characteristic only by them and stubbornly searched for new paths in painting. In fact, only a very complex and tragic fate united them. In general, the work of the post -impressionists expressed dominant motives, and the mood of their time, had a great influence on the development of the artistic culture of the turn of the 19th - 20th centuries.
