Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) is a Dutch-pre-impressionist who created more than 2100 works, of which about 860 are written in oil.
During life, Van Gog"s work was not in demand and practically ignored the critics, but after his death was universal recognition and high assessment. At the same time, little is known about the artist’s life, and disputes about the causes and circumstances of his early and tragic care are still not subside.
The only reliable and detailed source of information about Van Gogh can serve as his letters, which for fifteen years have almost daily emerged from his pen and were mainly addressed to Brother Theo. This endless correspondence is more reminiscent of a diary that plunges into the world of a brilliant master, allowing you to see the circumstances of his life and relations with people, feel the emotional state in different periods and understand what a huge work and mental stress stood behind each work of the artist.
