Andrei Grigoryevich Shkuro (1887-1947) came from a family of hereditary Kuban Cossacks. He graduated from the Cadet Corps and the Nikolaev Cavalry School. During the First World War he proved himself to be a brave and initiative officer, he was repeatedly awarded, including St. George"s weapons. One of the prominent theorists and practitioners of organizing partisan activities in the enemy rear. Shkuro successfully applied his partisan’s skills in the civil war, fighting in the White Army, where he had been led to Lieutenant General.
Since 1920 in exile. During the Second World War, he actively collaborated with the Nazis, formed Cossack units for service in the Wehrmacht. At the end of the war, he was captured by the British and transferred to the Soviet troops.
by the decision of the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR, he was sentenced to death and hanged in the Lefortovo prison in 1947
