Lidia Yakovlevna Ginzburg (1902–1990) is an outstanding Russian writer and a well -known literary critic, whose works are studied in universities and are of great interest for all connoisseurs of the history of Russian literature and poetry. Her work “Notes of the Blockade Man” is one of the valuable evidence of the borderline experience of a person who finds himself in a blockade city. And this man is a woman in her daily reality. In the text, the author constant turns to the opposition of female and male views on what is happening.
The second part of the book is occupied by works entitled as “Prose of the Military Years”, which includes works written in 1942-1945. These works belong to the kind of literature that Ginzburg later called “intermediate literature”, since it simultaneously unites both the documentary and the artistic principle
