This book is the result of the many years of work by Christopher Vogler and David Mackenna. Being professional experts, they analyzed a total of more than 40,000 scenarios of various genres. Vogler and McCanna are considered not just as a healthy steritelling tooling, they consider it “saving” for both beginners and actively writing authors.
The book owes its name to the Memo manual, written once by Vogler to work in the script department and has become legendary guidance for many generations of scriptwriters. But this is only one of the many methods described in the book of analysis and work on the structure of the narrative and characters - from the characters of Theophrastus and the morphology of the magical "fairy tale of Russian philologist Vladimir Propp to the copyright methods of Vogler and Mackenna himself. The authors not only generously share their secrets and show on the examples of successful film, how they are used, but also give, after each chapter, practical tips and specific tasks for independent work for future screenwriters and writers
