Alexander Ivanovich Herzen (1812-1870) - publicist, writer, philosopher of the 19th century, liberal, supporter of revolutionary transformations, one of the most prominent critics of the official ideology and politics of the Russian Empire.
This book presents two well -known works of the author: “Letters on the study of nature” and “Dilenism in science”, reflecting the philosophical views of Herzen and made a significant contribution to the development of materialistic philosophy. According to the author himself, philosophy is the process of “deepening nature and the development of the complete consciousness of the cosmos about itself”, however, excluding the concept of God from the subject of philosophy, Herzen determines the beginning of scientific philosophy of the real nature, the basis of science is an actual world, but a science that relying not On nature and not on facts, by the science of amateurs
