Automated design systems (CAD) are currently widely used in various fields of activity. The book discusses the development of a geometric modeling system, which forms the basis of any CAD. The topics presented are: the user interface, the designer and the database of geometric objects, the graphic display system. When designing individual components of the system, the main attention is paid to compliance with the principle of modality. It is shown how to increase the reaction rate of the user interface due to the parallel execution of individual modules in different flows. In accompanying the description of the C ++ 11 programs, the Windows operating system API is used and there is no binding to universal frame shells.
The material presented in the book can be used as a base for building a specialized CAD of a particular purpose.
