Alexander Nikolaevich Formozov (1899-1973), a well-known zoologist, ecologist, nature defender, was a wonderful writer-naturalist and first-class animal artist.
His scientific and popular books "Satellite of the Rastype", "Six Days in the Forests", "Among Nature," survived many publications and are well known. At the same time, the great artistic heritage of Formosov has not yet been published. The book "from Murman to Amur. Travels of an animal artist " - the first album of A.N. Formova. It contains illustrated stories about his travels to Murman in 1927 and 1929, to Mongolia in 1926, in Primorye and Amur in 1928 and about work in the taiga of the Sharyinsky district of the Kostroma region in 1930-1940. Drawings accompany quotes from diaries, letters and works of Formozov. Among the landscapes, portraits of animals, drawings of traces of their life, there are many and ethnographic sketches - Pomeranian, Gilyak gods, Mongolian household items. In total, the album has 495 drawings, the vast majority of them are published for the first time. The book included about a third of the author’s art archive
