For the first time for the Russian reader, it is the opportunity to get acquainted with the "drawn Japanese flora" - a collection of the German doctor and naturalist Philip Franz von Zibold (1796-1866), which is stored in the library of the Botanical Institute named after V. L. Komarova RAS. What is the manuscript collection "Flora Japonica DelineTionibus", including the botanical drawings of Japanese artists of the 1st half of the 19th century? How did the scientific and creative heritage of a German scientist, almost the first European researcher closed to foreigners of Japan, ended up in Russia? These and many other questions are answered by this publication. The book presents archival documents and materials from the library of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Kunstkamers, the St. Petersburg branch of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as a number of meetings of the Netherlands and several Japanese museums. The publication was carried out thanks to the assistance of the Consulate General of Japan in St. Petersburg
