The life of Sophia Kazimirovna Ostrovskaya (1902-1983) accommodated a lot: childhood in a wealthy family, studying at the History Department of Petrograd University, the service of the head of the criminal investigation of the Murmansk Railway, the work as a translator of technical texts, the ambition of an unrecognized writer, friendly relations with Anna Akhmatova and others. All this was reflected on the pages of her first -published diary, which she led from her young to the middle of the 20th century.
