The exhibition proposed to the attention of the audience is another joint project, this time with the museum and the Kapodimont Royal Park in Naples, one of the largest art meetings in Italy. For exhibiting in Moscow, paintings of prominent painters of the first half of the 17th century were provided - "Judith and Oloferne" Artemisia Gentiles, "Holy Agatha" Francesco Gvarino and "Angel with the playing bones and tunic of Christ" Simon Vue.
From the GMIA collection, the work of their contemporaries, leading masters of the Bologna school was selected - "Joseph and the wife of Pentifria" and "Boil of shepherds" Guido Reni, "Holy Family with the little John the Baptist and St. Elizabeth" Simone Cantarini, "Allegory of Vera" And "Holy Sebastian" Gverino.
A similar combination of names is not by chance, it allows you to clearly show the key moments of the development of Italian painting of that time within this small exposition.
Central work of the exhibition - the canvas "Yudif and Olofern" Artemisia Gentiles from the collection of Kapodimont. Written when the artist was barely twenty years old, it is rightfully considered one of her most famous creatures. A very long journey of Artemicia in art can serve as an example of how at different stages of life it absorbed different artistic trends, invariably remaining the faithful of her own creative personality.
No less, if no more important and strong was her own influence on the masters completely different in the warehouse, who entered into creative contact in Rome, Naples, Florence, where she worked for a long time, as well as in other cities of Italy and for its borders
