Sergey Dovlatov is a modern classic, one of the most read Russian writers of the last quarter of the 20th century. The Chosen one included such well -known works as "Zone", "Compromise", "Reserve", "Ours", "branch". "Read it is easy. He, as it were, does not require attention, does not insist on his conclusions or observations over human nature, and does not impose himself for the reader. I swallowed his books on average in three to four hours of continuous reading: because it was from this unobtrusiveness of his tone that it was difficult to tear himself away. An invariable reaction to his stories and novels is gratitude for the lack of claims, for sobriety of views on things, for this quiet music of common sense that sounds in any of its paragraphs.
