Today we know about the war of 1812, it seems, everything. A lot of historical research and artistic works are written about it. And yet the reader is offered another book on this topic. What is different from others? The story is unusual in that the events of that memorable year are depicted by the eyes of a French officer, a direct participant in the war. With the hero of the story, the reader will be in a ruined Moscow and in Paris, in Sinai and in Hungary, will be held with the Napoleonic army to the first-palistol and will see the inglorious path of the rebuilding conquerors, noted at the end of the disastrous crossing through Berezin. Along with the fictional characters, there are historical personality in the story, such as French General Yevgeny Bogarne or Writer Standal. The action begins in 1798, and ends in 1828. And one more distinctive feature of the story: an extremely important place is occupied by icons in it, and the image of the nestable bunk can be considered equal, if not the main thing, the work of the work
