The first book of the new series "Don Juan" is devoted to the Russian contribution to the development of a European myth about the Seville seducer. The first original work, interpreting Don Juan as a tragic figure of a freedom -loving artist, was written in Russian by the great Pushkin (a little tragedy "Stone Guest") - he conceived the scale of this "eternal image" in the Russian context. In the 19th century, the philosophical drama of A.K. Tolstoy, popular at the Theater of Playing by A.N. Bezhetsky and A.O. Mordvin-Shorodo, in the 20th century, Russian "Donjuanian", was followed by prosaic plays by A.V. Amphitheatrov and B . K. Zaitsev, in which the features of the parody and the philosophical essay were given to the plot, respectively, the poetry dramas of N.S. Gumilyov and the follower of the futurists V. Kazakov, reflecting the new facets of the hero’s perception in the lyrical context. A special chapter into the Russian understanding of the image of Don Zhuan entered the lyrics - the cycles of K. Balmont and M. Tsvetaeva, the poem by A.A. Block "The Shags of the Commander" rightfully stood next to the tragedy of Pushkin. The treatise of K. Balmont about Don Juan as a myth of the New Age in many ways explained the surge of interest in the legendary hero in Russian literature at the beginning of the 20th century. The essay of A. Akhmatova about the "Stone Gosta" Pushkin secured the reputation of the indisputable "growth point of the Russian" Donjuanian to the "little tragedy". Many works included in that were not published in Russian since the first publication
