The main texts on the history of philosophy, created by Nelly Vasilyevna Motroshilova, connects the doctrine of the place of philosophy and philosophers in a historically developing society. The core of this doctrine form three main principles. The first is the concept of a working idea, the second is that N. V. Motroshilova herself calls the "personal principle", and the third is the distinction between three levels of historical development of society: civilization, era, historical situation. This approach was used by the author in this book. This is one of the first attempts to realize the role of philosophers in the Soviet and post -Soviet society, and in society as a whole.
