The work is devoted to the Lviv Assumption Stavropigiy Brotherhood - a public organization operating over two centuries (1586-1788) and preserved a unique archive, whose documents reflect the life and activities of many generations of Ukrainian citizens, state and church institutions.
The work carried out a source-edged analysis of the documents deposited in the archive, their informative opportunities are revealed. The sources reflecting the functioning of the Brotherhood as a city corporation of the XVI-XVIII centuries are considered, its ties with church and government authorities, as well as activities in the field of culture. Special attention is paid to the sources of school activities and printing houses, the functioning of the archive and the fraternity library is carried out.
