Pavel Macso was born in Poland, he was educated in Oxford, choosing the main theme of his research problems of the Jewish misfortune and messianic movements of the new time. From 2008 to the present, he is an employee of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Faculty of Humanitarian Sciences of the Jewish University in Jerusalem. The author of numerous publications on the history of Sabbatianism and Frankism. Book "Different set. In 2012, elected a member of the Youth Academy of Israel"s Sciences.
The book proposes a comprehensive analysis of Frankism - the Jewish religious and messianic movement, which arose in Poland in the middle of the XVIII century. Based on many years of work in the archives of Poland, the Czech Republic, Israel, Germany, the USA and the Vatican, the book makes a new look at a number of established ideas about the status and role of Jewry in Europe XVIII - XIX centuries. Calling a split in the Jewish community of Poland and after receiving access to the circles of the European political and religious elite later, Frankists significantly changed the attitude of Christians to Judaism, showing the internal heterogeneity and complexity of the Jewish world. The book will be interesting to both historians, religions, culturalologists, and all readers interested in the history of Jews, the Jewish mysticism, the problems of sectarianism and religious misfidence
